Flavours of boysenberry and bittersweet chocolate dominate when describing this Chilian classic, Secret Carmenere of the Secret Colchagua Valley. This one leads to a long rich finish. The Shiraz from Shoofly, hails from the Adelaide hills. Friendly on the palate it exhibits a nose of violets, plums, and blueberry. It has a ripe flavor with a smooth finish. El Coto de Rioja Crianza, is moderately dense dark red in colour. Ripe strawberry and raspberry nose with a note of vanillia. Palate is smooth, balanced, fresh, dry and clean.

Our Wines

We are a family owned  wine importer and distributor. We have been trading for over 25 years, with the recent addition of the second generation of Smiths joining our passionate team.

Quality always comes first and we pride ourselves on this. We strive for excellence in every area of our business, be it our hard earned reputation for having excellent wines from the more traditional wine growing regions of the world as well as wines made from newly discovered varietals in different micro-climates from the New World, or for the high level of customer service we do our utmost to offer with a friendly smile.

In 1985 Robert and Christine Smith decided to combine their various skills and talents and start their own wine importing company.  At first they concentrated on wines from France. Then gradually they extended the range to include wines from Spain, Germany, Italy, Lebanon, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile and Argentina. This generally involved travelling to the various wine growing regions in search of high quality wines produced by passionate growers.  Over the years, they have built up great relationships with their suppliers all over the world.  Many of the suppliers in Mackenway’s portfolio have been there for 25 years.

Our values are  at the core of our business and  we strive to do better every day of the week.

With everything we do, quality must always come first. That goes for the quality of the wines right the way across our portfolio to the service we offer to each and every one of our valued customers.

Over the last number of years as associate members of NOFFLA we have enjoyed great success in their annual Gold Star Awards, with the quality of our wines being recognised with many Gold Star Awards across the different categories. We have won the coveted “White Wine of the Year” or “Red Wine of the Year” several times over the last 7 years.  We were absolutely thrilled in 2009 when our wines won both of these awards with our Pouilly Fume AC Petit Fume 2008 winning the overall “Wine of the Year” title.   You can imagine our delight this year 2010 when our wines were awarded the top two accolades once more – a definite first in the history of the Noffla Gold Star Awards.  Our top wine this year is the stunning Museum Real Reserva 2004 from Cigales in Spain.

Throughout our team we carry an enormous amount of passion for wines and working in the wine business. This passion is evident across our entire range. Over the last twenty five years we have built up our portfolio to include superior value for money wines within the classics such as the wines from La Chablisienne in Chablis to great tasting wines from lesser known regions such as the Marselan from Val de Salis in the Languedoc or Ben Riggs’ Shoofly Chardonnay with a splash of Verdejo and Riesling from Adelaide Hills in South Australia.

Price is always important and we recognise this fact. We do your best to offer a quality service with an interesting range of wines that are delivered at a fair price. Our aim is to enable our customers to make their margin and for their customers to feel happy they have a got a wine to enjoy having got real value for money and returning for more, time after time.
