Flavours of boysenberry and bittersweet chocolate dominate when describing this Chilian classic, Secret Carmenere of the Secret Colchagua Valley. This one leads to a long rich finish. The Shiraz from Shoofly, hails from the Adelaide hills. Friendly on the palate it exhibits a nose of violets, plums, and blueberry. It has a ripe flavor with a smooth finish. El Coto de Rioja Crianza, is moderately dense dark red in colour. Ripe strawberry and raspberry nose with a note of vanillia. Palate is smooth, balanced, fresh, dry and clean.

Château La Bastide – Corbières

Ch. La Bastide Tradition Rouge ’11, 89 pts Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate 2014

Nestled in the north end of the appellation of Corbières is Château La Bastide.  It is an area that consists of limestone terraces, with slate and gravel alluvial soil.  The estate was purchased in 1989 by Anne-Marie and Guilhem Durand.  Immediately after taking over, they began replanting their more ordinary vineyards with more exotic and prestigious varietals.  For the past 25 years, Guilhem has been the dedicated winemaker of the estate.  His vision is simple: “To make top quality wines”.  He has more than accomplished this goal, winning multiple international medals each year with both his white and red wines.  Even more impressively, they won me over, in a sea of amazing wines.
