ROBERT RECOMMENDS

Flavours of boysenberry and bittersweet chocolate dominate when describing this Chilian classic, Secret Carmenere of the Secret Colchagua Valley. This one leads to a long rich finish. The Shiraz from Shoofly, hails from the Adelaide hills. Friendly on the palate it exhibits a nose of violets, plums, and blueberry. It has a ripe flavor with a smooth finish. El Coto de Rioja Crianza, is moderately dense dark red in colour. Ripe strawberry and raspberry nose with a note of vanillia. Palate is smooth, balanced, fresh, dry and clean.

Montonale – Lugana

Montonale “Montunal” Lugana ’15, Wine Enthusiast 2017

Imaginative Montonale winery is situated near the small village of Borgo di Montonale, in the inland part of Desenzano del Garda, near Brescia, between the lake Garda and the “Colline Moreniche” (Moraine Hills), in the Lugana DOC.  Here, the peculiar combination of different chalky clays of drumlin origin, rich in minerals, offers a soil peculiarly suitable to the growing of the native grape variety Turbiana (Trebbiano di Lugana).  This grape variety produces wines with a high level of minerality, a good acidity, and an intense and complex bouquet.

Classico “Montunal” comes from vineyards around Borgo of Montonale and the grapes are softly pressed without oxygen and the must starts the fermentation with indigenous yeast.  After fermentation it is aged for six months in stainless steel tanks with constant battonage every three days and is bottled then in April.
