Description
La Maialina Chianti has an earthy, sanguine nose of soil, cherries and dark chocolate also has the freshness of mint and fennel. Cherries and chocolate headline the palate, until a bitter finish of espresso, sambuca and orange peel. A latent spiciness contrasts with an overall silky texture.
Winemaker Attilio Pagli was heralded by Decanter Magazine in 2016 as Italy’s Best Winemaker and amongst the Top 10 in the World. Maialina wines are crafted to express the essence of the territory and tradition of quality of this historic region.
They celebrate the history, culture, and cuisine of Chianti which is renowned for its beautiful landscape marked with green, gentle hill-covered vineyards. The name “La Maialina”, the little pig, refers to the Cinta Senese heirloom breed that originated in the Siena area during the 1300s. It is the only Tuscan native pig to survive extinction.
