The success of Argentinian Malbec is something to be commended, and no one is complaining that the public has embraced a wine as much as they have these mighty Mendoza Malbecs.

However, I do sometimes wonder whether this love for Malbec detracts from other wonderful wines of the region. So, I decided that I’m going to show off some truly fantastic Cab Francs to show that South America is not a one-trick pony.

Salentein ‘Numina’ Cabernet Franc

Nose of plum, cherry, violet, bell pepper, cigar box and a touch of vanilla. Bright and linear on the palate with lively acidity, savoury spice and silky tannins. Elegant and pure. 91 Points- Decanter

Salentein ‘Barrel Select’ Cabernet Franc

Black cherry, blackcurrant, plum, violet, herbs, tomato leaf and sweet tobacco. Fresh, clean and focused with bright fruit and good extraction. Generous, structured, modern. 90 Points – Decanter

Bodega Garzon Cabernet Franc Reserva

The nose displays aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, spices and herbal hints. Appealing palate, easy to drink. Juicy finish. 91 Points – Decanter
