Wonderful no alcohol Wines

Neil O'Reilly

Although I’ve never understood Dry January, it occurs to me that the unfortunate souls who think it’s necessary may need some help. Thankfully, at Mackenway we have a range of award winning No Alcohol wines to assist as we come into the final two weeks of the month.

Aoife Carrigy has recommended our Leitz Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Rosé “From a reliable producer of non-alcoholic wines, this pretty pink Pinot Noir sparkler is fragrant with summer berry aromas (strawberries, raspberries) yet drinks dry and refreshing. Irish Wine show Gold Star winner 2025.”

Aoife also wanted to highlight our Zeno alcohol-free Red, “ De-alcoholised red wines are so hard to nail, so kudos to Zeno for achieving clean bramble fruit with soft ripe tannins in this organic Tempranillo Cabernet blend. The range includes a crisp Viura, pretty Bobal-based Rosé and two fun sparklers.”

Though I just loved seeing that Tom Surgey’s description, “ Absolutely mega! Frankly, it’s the best non-alcoholic red Ive tasted. It smells like wine, tastes like wine, I think it’s absolutely wicked.”

Possibly my favourite of our no alcohol range. The Zeno Alcohol Free Sparkling White. I’m glad that Susy Atkins agrees.

“The new ZENO range of booze-free wines is excellent, unsurprisingly perhaps as one of the team is former M&S Wine Buyer and Master of Wine Jane Masters. This is made from Macabeo (one of the traditional grapes in Cava) grapes and tastes of green apples and fresh pears with a little pear-drops sweetness. a light hint of toast a very crisp, lively bubbles. It’s not completely dry but it’s balanced.”
