Gomez Cruzado Rioja Report
Brilliant news in from Tim Atkin’s Rioja report for 2026.
Our partners in Gomez Cruzado were absolute stand-outs and we couldn’t be happier!
“Juan Bautista uses grapes from the Sonsierra as well as the Alto Najerilla to make this attractively priced white blend of Viura, 25% Tempranillo Blanco and 5% Garnacha Blanca and Malvasía. Subtle baking spice and nettle aromas lead you into a palate of green fig, citrus and cream built around a fresh, mineral-etched core.” 92 points
“Gómez Cruzado’s Crianza is one of the most serious examples of the style, made with Tempranillo from the slopes of the Sonsierra and 25% Garnacha from the Alto Najerilla. Aged in French and 8% American oak, it has appealing elegance and purity, crunchy minerality and flavours of red plum, cinnamon and black cherry.” 91 Points
Gomez Cruzado Reserva ‘Dorona’ 2018
“The Alto Najerilla villages of Badarán, Cardenas and Cordovín are the source of this old- vine cuvée of Tempranillo and 40% Garnacha. Scented, elegant and focused, it’s a tangy, refreshing Rioja Alta red with mountain herb aromas, impressive grip and acidity and flavours of plum, toast and black cherry.” 94 points
“Honorable is one of Rioja’s historic brands, so it’s a pleasure to taste something as thrilling as this 2021 release. Combining Tempranillo, 7% Graciano and 3% Garnacha, this partners aromas of incense, coffee bean and liquorice with a vibrant, focused, energetic palate of blackberry, mint and dark chocolate. A brilliant wine with beautiful balance.” 97 Points
