El Coto de Rioja
Rioja is the region that gives its name to the most prestigious wines in Spain. El Coto is one of the best wineries in the area, bottling its first wines in 1970. By 2004 El Coto Crianza had become Spain’s No. 1 wine from the region. Their wines are superb, with excellent fruit, character and good oak integration.
The climate is continental with Mediterranean influences, extreme temperatures and long hours of sunshine. This type of soil and climate favour the subsequent aging of wine as they provide very good acidity for maintaining freshness and excellent quality fruit from the vines.
